Sensational farms nearby
You may have heard of lavender farms, but did you know that there are also sunflower farms near Surrey and London?
The towering yellow beauties that inspired Van Gogh come into season between August and September - so now is the perfect time to visit them in all their heliotropic glory.
So, why not take a weekend break to one of these stunning sunflower farms, and wander amongst acres of cheery golden blooms? Plus, most of the farms will also let you pick a few, so you can bring the sunshine back home with you!

Garson's Farm

Garson's Farm in Esher is well-known for its pick-your-own fruits, but did you know they also do sunflowers?
Though their sunflower field isn't massive, you can still have a lovely stroll through the rows. And if that's not enough, Garson's also has gladioli and dahlia fields to enjoy.
You can also pick a mixed bunch of five stems for £5.49, or pay £1.29 per individual flower.

Hitchin Lavender

Hitchin Lavender is famous for its aromatic purple blooms, but this small family farm also grows acres of sunflowers. Settled in the rolling countryside, you can take in the area's bucolic views whilst you search for the best of the season's crop.

Stanhill Farm

Stanhill Farm in Kent consists of 150 acres of fields, growing fruit, vegetables - and sunflowers! It's free to enter, just pay for the amount you pick. Prices are £1.50 per stem or five stems for £5.
One thing to note is that if you want to borrow some secateurs, you'll need to put down a refundable deposit of £5.

The Pop Up Farm

Despite its name, The Pop Up Farm actually exists all year round. The 'pop-up' element refers to their seasonal events, which they hold in correlation with their crops.
In late summer, they hold an annual Sunflower Festival, where they allow visitors to roam around their gorgeous sunflower patch. The festival is highly popular but subject to its yearly yield - so you'll have to keep an eye on its website and social media for up-to-date visiting times.
