“Big laughs, classic tunes, and a heartwarming story brought to life by a brilliant cast headed by Bobby Davro”
OUR VERDICT
From the moment the curtain rose, comedy legend Bobby Davro stole the show as the hilarious Will Scarlet, captivating the crowd with his quick wit and side-splitting one-liners. His effortless ability to entertain children, teens and adults alike had everyone in stitches. Richard Brimblecombe’s wicked portrayal of the Sheriff was met with a chorus of enthusiastic boos, while Mark Bradford’s Little Jane, Peter Straker’s regal King Richard and Kiera-Nicole’s enchanting Fairy-Faraway added charm and charisma to the production. Robin Hood himself and his Maid Marion complimented the other more extravagant characters.
A visual spectacle
The production dazzled with its beautifully crafted costumes and stage backdrops. Each character’s outfit, from the child chorus dancers’ sparkly costumes right though to Little Jane’s ostentatious garb, was a feast for the eyes. The simple yet elegant stage sets transported the audience with ease from Sherwood Forest’s golden bow and arrow competition to the haunted bedrooms of Nottingham Castle. The creative use of props, smoke and lighting added to the magic, making every scene immersive and exciting.
One of the highlights of the evening were the cleverly choreographed dance routines set to a nostalgic soundtrack of 1980s hits. The infectious energy of the cast had the audience clapping, toe-tapping, and singing along to beloved classics. Whether it was a heartfelt ballad or an upbeat dance number, every song hit the right note, adding layers of fun to the performance.
A dose of panto tradition
This production stayed true to the traditional pantomime formula with a cross-dressing Dame, played with gusto by Mark Bradford, as well as plenty of audience participation with cheers for the heroes, boos for the villains, and lots of call-and-response moments that kept everyone engaged. Watch out for water pistols and a flurry of loo rolls - unexpected moments that added a delightful sense of chaos to the evening.
Fun for all ages
With its mix of slapstick humour, clever wordplay, and feel-good singalongs, Robin Hood proved to be a true crowd-pleaser. Families, friends, and festive revellers alike were united in laughter and song.
This high energy panto has something for everyone: big laughs, classic tunes, and a heartwarming story brought to life by a brilliant cast. A fun-filled evening that will leave you grinning from ear to ear!
