Part master magician, part stand up comedian, Pete Firman presents a unique evening of entertainment in his new show Pete Firman: TriX. Hattie Curl gives this brilliant night out 5 STARS.
Having appeared in many television shows, and with his upcoming appearance in the new ITV show The Next Great Magician, this is the chance to see his illusions, sleight of hand and comedy performance live as he embarks on his national tour.
Pete Firman’s show is a brilliant mix of stand up comedy and magic. The balance is just right, and the comedy lends itself to an even more enjoyable show. The fast paced performance is slick and the heavy audience participation is a fun addition to the evening. However, if you’re feeling a bit shy then the front row isn’t the best place for you!
The phenomenal magic left the whole audience baffled and impressed. Using random audience members, Firman successfully pulled off amazing tricks, with incredible flair. As well as card tricks with a twist, there was the use of a guillotine, levitation and an impressive trick involving reuniting a participant with his £10 note; they were all flawless.
Good jokes and excellent timing, leaving the audience in stitches, punctuated this. Perhaps not the most suitable for young children due to swearing and a heavy use of not so subtle innuendos, the stand up sections were nonetheless hilarious. The continuous use of unashamedly bad puns further created the fun atmosphere and sense of rapport between Firman and the audience.
If you love laughing and mind-blowing magic, then this is a must see show. The dynamic mix of comedy with the tricks means you certainly won’t be bored. Join Firman on his tour around the UK, and make sure you look out for his show in Woking on October 23 at the Rhoda Mcgaw Theatre.
