Two traditional Christmas plays are coming to Guildford in December – the Nativity at Wintershall, and the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The annual Wintershall Nativity returns to the rural Wintershall Estate Barn Theatre from December 16-20. You'll want to come warmly dressed for the show, but it'll be well-worth braving the cold – and the 'Bethlehem inn' (no room!) will be open beforehand with hot drinks and mince pies to keep you warm.
A barn seems like a perfect setting for the Christmas story, and the Wintershall Players have a strong record of open-air Christian stories – this year they boast a 50-strong cast, including various barn animals.
If you're looking for a more modern Christian Christmas story, you can always see the Man in the Moon youth theatre group's take on the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe down at Guildford's public Electric Theatre – before it's closed and sold off, at least.
