There's a host of events across Surrey for anyone who wants to celebrate Shakespeare's birthday this weekend
The precise date of Shakespeare’s birth is unknown, but he was baptized on April 26, 1564 - we assume he was born over that weekend, because it makes celebrating his birthday a lot easier!
The Royal Shakespeare Company is gearing up for many happy returns in the bard’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon on April 25-26. You may even have voted for his birthday song online from the top seven entries across the UK, including local composer Greg Harradine.
The Globe Theatre in London is running their usual tours and plays, for anyone who wants to venture into the city where Shakespeare made his name, and had a full birthday bash last Sunday.
But Surrey has its fair share of tributes to the greatest playwright in history coming up this weekend - check out some of the best below.
