The Parrot is rather like Dr Who's Tardis - the outside looks like an inviting country pub, with tables and chairs on the wide frontage - overlooking the Village Green but when you enter, the bar is just the delight you would hope to expect. It has the film-set image of a truly traditional pub with its low-beamed ceilings and flagstone floor and cosy nooks and crannies.
In the winter, the huge gleaming brass fireplace crackles and spits with logs and is a welcoming sight after a crisp walk through the Surrey Hills. A carefully chosen variety of cask-conditioned ales beckon to you as you glance around the deep set bar.
The surprises start when you venture either left or right of the bar. To the left you see an inviting space with a large central table, leading through French doors onto a paved terrace - where you can sit in the sunshine with all-round protection from any prevailing winds.
