Why ‘Tara’?
The word Tara has a number of meanings that represent the work we do.
In Hindustani/Urdu ‘Tara’ means 'star' – Tara is a shining beacon for multiculturalism, the star that rests over the door of Tara Theatre guides the community towards our home of art.
In Buddhism ‘Tara’ is the Goddess of Love and Art and in Ireland the ‘Hill of Tara’ was an ancient seat of power – at Tara we aim to be a power for good through art, creating a home for all who visit and working at the forefront of multiculturalism in Britain.
