Surrey Hills Yurts
Book: surreyhillsyurts.co.uk
Now, for something a little different, imagine breathing in the fresh air of the Surrey Hills, adventuring by day and cosying up to the crackle of your wood-burning stove by night. Set amongst the long grass and rolling fields you can experience luxury and camping under the roof of your very own yurt. Luxury you say? Well, sheepskin throws, hot water and most importantly the decorative bunting… Yes, this is glamping.
The lack of electricity gives the whole experience a truly rustic feel, with the use of candle-lit lanterns to illuminate the yurt giving a rather romantic ambience. The Kitchen is self-catered to entice you into cooking outside, as you absolutely should when you are camping! However, it can’t hurt to go and scope out the local pub-grub scene, can it?
Get back to nature, cycling, walking and fishing, join a yoga retreat or try your hand at archery. To my delight the site is also within walking distance of famous winery Albury's Vineyard, with the opportunity for Yoga and wine tasting, throw in some horse riding and I’m in heaven.
I’m thinking a wonderful little weekend break for the outdoorsy or even a fun recommendation for something different for a girlfriend’s hen. The wonder of Surrey Hills Yurts is that family and friends can enjoy the experience of the outdoors – yes, still rather luxuriously – just an hour from London by train.
