Celebs who have settled in Surrey
We’re sure you’ll want to invite these neighbours over for your next BBQ, either for some musical entertainment, a bit of footie, or some acting lessons.
Surrey is home to an array of actors, musicians, and TV personalities. It may be hard to believe - but these celebs are just like us.
What’s not to enjoy about our scenic nature, eye-catching properties, and chance to shelter from the hustle and bustle of the city?
1. Judi Dench
The first female on our list is none other than a beloved national treasure, actress Judi Dench.
Despite growing up in York Dench has chosen to reside for several decades in the town of Outwood, relatively close to London, but allowing her to enjoy the tranquility of a more rural area.
However, there has been trouble in paradise, as the highly esteemed actress was reported to have an invasion of mice in her £8 million mansion during lockdown.
Regardless, she has appeared to be enjoying what Surrey has to offer as can be sighted visiting Casa Zilli which is her favourite Italian restaurant in Redhill, with documentarian Louis Theroux!
2. Tom Felton
Next up is a face that we know all too well, celeb Tom Felton. You may see him on the screen during a Harry Potter Marathon, or basking in a walk with his two labradors Willow and Forest somewhere in Surrey.
After leaving behind the alluring lifestyle of Hollywood for a healthier one after indications of struggling with addiction, Felton now leads a more relaxing life in Epsom.
It is not surprising that the famed protagonist has chosen to settle down in this area, as he is familiar with the area after growing up here with his three brothers. Felton regularly chooses to spend his pastime fishing at Bury Hill in Dorking.
3. Peter Andre
The reality TV star lives a lavish life in his £1.7 million Surrey pad with his wife Emily Macdough and children, along with their new arrival of a baby girl in April. Boasting a cinema room and a gym, it may be difficult to discover this family out and about!
4. Eric Clapton
This English rockstar owns a variety of dazzling vacation homes across the globe, but the idyllic town of Ewhurst, Surrey, is where his heart lies. Built in 1910, his Italian-style villa named ‘Hurtwood Edge Estate’ sits comfortably in the Surrey Hills.
After landing himself a distinguished place in musical history, the legend can now spend his days lavishing on the views and gentle nature of his surroundings.
5. John Lennon
Although no longer with us, another famous face who made Surrey his home was John Lennon, a founding member of The Beatles.
In 1964, the celebrated musician and songwriter took residence in Kenwood, St.George’s Hill, paying just £20,000 for the property with his then-wife Cynthia Lennon.
Here, the lyricist produced some of the band's most famous songs, making it a staple of music history and Beatlemania. Now home to a sauna, outdoor pool, and stables, the pad is disclosed to be on the market for £8.9 million!
6. John Terry
For many years, ex-football star John Terry has had his eyes on the Surrey area - Oxshott in particular, as he builds his property empire with his wife Toni after retiring from the sport.
In 2019, he committed to an impressive seven-bed property for £4.1 million and has recently sold land for two more mansions in the Crown Estate of Oxshott, amounting to almost £5 million.
This does not come as a surprise as Oxshott, which lies within the borough of Elmbridge, has been home to many high-profile individuals over the years due to its luxurious properties and proximity to London.
7. Gary Lineker
Football star and TV presenter Gary Lineker has also taken up residence in Esher alongside Tom Felton.
You may bump into the star and wife, Danielle Bux, enjoying an afternoon at his favourite pub the Prince of Wales, or doing a touch of shopping on the high street. The pair reportedly fell in love with the town that lies 14 miles from central London.
8. Joe Wicks
The fitness coach, TV presenter, and author has taken up space in an exclusive neighbourhood in Surrey, splashing a whopping £4.4 million on the grand home for his wife, Rosie Jones, and two young children.
You can catch a glimpse inside through Joe’s endless supply of fitness videos, which he was famed for during lockdown.
The family enjoys stays at the Beaverbrook Hotel, based in Leatherhead.
9. Tom Holland
If you use your spidey senses you may be lucky enough to stumble across this much-loved celeb just on the Surrey border, in Kingston upon Thames.
Holland lives in an apartment just five minutes away from his childhood home—a more peaceful life compared to the flashing cameras of Hollywood.
The star has been sighted many a time in the town, relishing in the pubs and nightlife. Fingers crossed he brings his glamorous girlfriend Zendaya with him next time!
Similarly, fellow Spiderman star Andrew Garfield also grew up in Surrey.
10. Tom Hardy
The versatile and award-winning actor has reportedly chosen to remove his family from the spotlight and now dwells in a rural area of Surrey, alike the other famous faces on our list.
Venom and Peaky Blinders Star attend a variety of schools in Surrey and London. Keep an eye out for him grocery shopping in Broadbridge Heath or unwinding just across the border in beautiful Sussex.
11. Chris Wolstenholme
Gifted Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme joined his fellow superstars occupying a residence in the town of Oxshott. Sources indicated in 2010 that he made a £6 million offer for a property in the Crown Estate.
12. Stormzy
The British rapper, singer, and songwriter is understood to inhabit a property in Kingston Hill, like our previously listed Tom Holland. What a celeb duo!
If you venture slightly over the Surrey border into South Norwood, you can swing by the Jamaican Bluejay Cafe, where the grime legend recommends nursing your head after a night out!
We’ll have to test this theory for ourselves.
13. Amanda Holden
Another prominent female figure to find a home in Surrey, sources disclose that Holden shelled out a whopping £7 million on the place in Cobham, Elmbridge. The Britain’s Got Talent judge has shared wishes to transform her home into a Beverly Hills Hotel.
