Rugby fans are already at a fever pitch for the Rugby World Cup 2015, to be hosted here in England; now the route for the World Cup Trophy Tour has been announced, as well as the locations for Official Fanzones
The 100-day Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will start on June 10 and journey across across the UK and Ireland, with almost a fifth of its dates hitting areas local to our magazine, including Surrey, Richmond and Twickenham.
Fans will have loads of opportunities to see the Webb Ellis Cup, as the tour will visit over 300 events on its path, ranging from local rugby initiatives to iconic landmarks. Hopefully that’ll be enough to briefly satisfy any rugby fans left champing at the bit for the World Cup, which is still almost half a year away.
The locations for the Official Fanzones have also been announced. There will be 15 Fanzones - one for each host city, another for Trafalgar Square, and a final one for the town of Rugby in Warwickshire. This is more than just a pun - it’s the birthplace of the game we call rugby (as well as the modern Olympics, coincidentally enough).
It’s the first time every host city has had a Fanzone, each of which will include big screens, entertainment, food, drink and rugby activities organised by the rugby community for the whole family.
They’ll be free to enter, and open throughout most of the six-week tournament - the aim is to let as many fans as possible enjoy the build-up and climax of each stage of the tournament.
