The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour was launched this month, in a celebration at Twickenham Stadium with Prince Harry and Jonny Wilkinson
There's less than 100 days to go until the start of the Rugby World Cup 2015, a milestone marked on June 10 with a royal celebration at Twickenham Stadium. Prince Harry, the Honorary President of England Rugby 2015, was joined by Jonny Wilkinson and Will Greenwood, both key members of the team that seized the cup for England in 2003.
Along with various Rugby VIPs and a group of local Richmond schoolchildren, they started the Webb Ellis Cup on its 100-day journey around the UK - it'll spend five days each at Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland, ten days in Wales, and a full 75 days in England, giving every rugby fan a chance to enjoy the preliminary celebrations.
"Rugby is a game built on values", said the Prince. "Respect, pride, teamwork and discipline. In 100 days' time, England and Cardiff will play host to an incredible festival of rugby with the world's best players, the world's best teams and, of course, the world's greatest fans, demonstrating these values."
This event also marked the start of the Festival of Rugby 2015, a programme running until October 31 to support rugby-themed events throughout the nation.
