With the Olympics looming in Rio next year, our Team GB Olympians aren't wasting a moment – except, perhaps, on good causes. Waterborne gold medallists Katherine Grainger, Greg Searle and Andrew Triggs-Hodge will host tables at a champagne reception, fundraising dinner and auction later this month, with an evening Q&A session hosted by BBC commentator and gold medallist Martin Cross.
The rowing stars will be raising money for Molesey Boat Club's new rowing centre. The centre, which will feature a community rowing tank, is intended to offer rowing opportunities to everyone in safe, controlled conditions. It's received widespread support, particularly from local schools with disabled children who would otherwise be left unable to learn to row.
"It's fantastic that the great names of rowing are willing to give their time so that others have a chance to get their own rowing career started," said Bill Raspin, MBC Chairman. "It's going to be a marvellous evening for anyone who loves rowing, or just wants to meet Olympic champions in the flesh."
The fundraising dinner will take place on October 22, 7pm
Seats can be bought for £100, with tables of 10 available for £1000+
