Haslemere Walkers New Year's Day Walk:
Known as a gateway to the Surrey Hills and Western Weald section of the South Downs National Park, Haslemere is celebrating after becoming the very first Walkers are Welcome town in Surrey, joining a network of over 100 towns nationwide!
Start the New Year with a spring in your step and join the Haslemere Walkers for a celebration walk through beautiful heathland and woodland with fine views of the Devil’s Punch Bowl.
The walk is approximately 2 miles long and you will need appropriate footwear. It is not recommended for pushchairs, wheelchairs or people with walking difficulties, although there will be a shorter walk without the steep gradient available.
After a refreshing walk, why not warm up with some soup and a roll in the Haslemere Walker's private room at the Devil’s Punchbowl Hotel? The special price for this is £4 a head with drinks available separately at the hotel bar.

New Year's Day Bird Walk at Riverside Nature Reserve, Burpham
Start the New Year by joining local members of the RSPB on the annual ‘head clearing’ walk to find and identify birds at Riverside Nature Reserve in Guildford.
Join the gentle walk, suitable for both beginners and experts, for about 2.5 hours to spot birds on the lake, in the fields and woods and along the riverside.
Walkers can hope to see around 40 different species of birds, and maybe even a kingfisher or an owl buried deep in a tree! Bring binoculars if you have them and don't forget to wear warm clothes and outdoor shoes/boots.
