A beauty salon with an unusual theme has opened its doors in Farnham.
The decor inside Mooeys, which includes artificial grass and animal print, is inspired by the English countryside and farmyards.
Owner Amy Neale, who has been a beauty therapist since the age of 16, has realised her dream of opening her own business thanks to a £14,000 loan from NatWest.
The salon, in Castle Street, specialises in nails and waxing and seven self-employed therapists are based there.
Amy said: “When I was younger my nan and my aunties would sit there having a natter and they’d be talking about people’s ‘mooeys’, meaning ladies’ moustaches. It just makes me laugh when I think of them sitting there, having a cup of tea.
“The logo of Mooeys is a cow’s head, and we have a little bit of cow print in there but not too much - nothing tacky. So it’s cheeky only if you know the word can mean something else.
“We have an English garden area for pedicures, a barn area for nails with buffalo skin footstools, and the waiting area is an English country cottage with a green leather Chesterfield.”
Amy, whose experience includes running salons in holiday parks and on cruise ships, learned waxing in Australia, and says they use a very specific technique which she is offering at Mooeys.
“I have a really good reputation for waxing now so I thought ‘Why not set up a business doing two things I absolutely adore?’” she said. “I thought ‘Let’s just be masters of two things and make it a bit of fun’.
“The whole ethos is ‘Welcome to our home - come in, put your feet up’.”
