Do you love the idea of building up a sweat without even having to walk out the door? Well, you're not alone.
Hundreds of homeowners across Surrey and southwest London are choosing to convert their office spaces, spare rooms or garages into home gyms.
And having the right set-up, gear and equipment can make all the difference when focusing on your fitness goals. So, whether you're a chilled-out yogi, dedicated weight lifter or an avid runner, you'll find that it really pays to have a reliable set-up that motivates you to take on your favourite workouts at home.
When planning for a home gym and choosing the equipment, the most critical consideration is finding the best options for your space, interests and goals. And this can often be challenging for non-expert fitness lovers.
Personal trainer turned equipment supplier, and home gym converter Mick Rolton warns that when shopping for a home gym, don't be blindsided b special sales or flashy trends.
In Mick's experienced and professional opinion, you should opt for the gear you have used before, or you can feel yourself turning comfortably again. Plus, your chosen equipment should be better aligned to your space and overall goals for use.
Mick now runs Gym, Design & Supply, which provides "best-in-class" gym equipment options that are suited to you, your lifestyle and your home. More than this, Mick is partnered with local firms like D2D projects, who work together to transform unused rooms and spaces throughout Surrey and southwest Londons in as little as three weeks or less.
Mick works with the largest equipment suppliers in the world, including Life Fitness, Star Trac, Primal Strength, Exigo, Nautilus, Concept2, Escape Fitness, Jordan Fitness, Physical Company and many more.
WHAT GYM EQUIPMENT SHALL WE USE HERE?
- What's the process involved in converting a home gym? The first step is free face-to-face consultation, where Mick will take measurements, look at plans and discuss the needs and specific goals of the client, the machines they'd be most interested in and their budget. Within the first week, a 2D model plan is presented with multiple options before everything is agreed upon and a deposit for the work taken. Building works begin; gym flooring installed, painting and decoration added if necessary and then the final delivery of gym equipment.
- How long does it take to build a home gym? It depends on the project size and the level of building work that needs to take place. In many instances, gym equipment can be delivered the next day. However, building works delay the process slightly by a few weeks, as you can expect.
- Why is going with a supplier better than ordering online? Mick advises that most clients he works with have previously ordered equipment online. Sadly, most of the equipment had no real longevity and was more challenging to use and uncomfortable, which is quite demotivating when trying to use the equipment for an hour each day. By choosing to go with a supplier, you get a more personal service, with a sale that's not rushed but well-thought-out.
