The cycle centre in Farnham's Alice Holt Forest is the perfect place to set off for some cycling this winter, Stephen Shrubsall reports
Evocative winter aromas and charming woodland architecture greet those who take a trip to Alice Holt forest this month. Falling under the Forestry Commission umbrella, Alice Holt, located just off the A31 near Farnham, boasts a Cycle Centre offering bike hire and mapping for a brace of bespoke biking trails.
The family option is the blueprint for a rosy-cheeked ride for the whole clan and features scopic, far-reaching meadows and an area to break out the Thermos next to Lodge Pond.
Adam Ward, the centre’s cycle mechanic and coach, informs me that they have also recently started a cycling club for all ages and abilities, as well as Bikeability courses which will begin early in the new year
