Foxhills Club & Resort
Tucked away in the beautiful Surrey countryside is Foxhills Country Club & Resort; a four-star rated getaway, with an award-winning restaurant, breathtaking grounds, a relaxing spa and trust me, it doesn’t end there...
I had, of course, heard of Foxhills before - I mean, anyone in Surrey probably has. But this was my first time visiting and to say I was impressed just doesn’t cut it. Truthfully, I was blown away. I’ve been to many similar places and resorts over the years, some of which cost more money and have one more star after their name, but none quite enjoyable as this.
After a tedious two hour journey from central London, and a sleepless night because of the flu the night before, there was not a lot I thought that would put me in a good mood. However, a spa getaway was actually just the ticket.
Pulling up outside felt like I was arriving at a castle. The grounds are spectacular, the atmosphere relaxed and the building itself was stunning - there is no other adjective to use. After being promptly checked in, we were shown to our room, which by the way was also nothing short of a dream. We had a ground floor bedroom that opened out on to the green by the tennis courts. Perfect to wake up to on a sunny day to take your morning coffee outside before you kick off the day.
We were shown to our room, which by the way was nothing short of a dream. We had a ground floor bedroom that opened out on to the green by the tennis courts. Perfect to wake up to on a sunny day to take your morning coffee outside before you get started for the day. After checking out our room, and spotting an outdoor pool (I love to swim, which is a very difficult thing to enjoy when you live in London and only have the Lidos and leisure centres at your disposal), we were, to say the least, very excited to go out and explore.
The outdoor pool wasn’t exactly an Olympic swimming pool but it was perfect to have a little dip and swim in. With sunloungers dotted around, and the sun glaring down, it felt for a moment, like I was abroad. After this, we thought we would check out the spa facilities.
Foxhills spa facilities boast a swimming pool with an attached jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, outdoor all-natural plunge pool (which was fantastic by the way), outdoor hot tub (which was very popular) and lots more outdoor saunas to pop in and out of.
There are lots of spa treatments to choose from on offer too, everything from massages to holistic therapies. £55 here, would get you a 40-minute therapeutic massage, whereas £77 would get you a hot stone massage aka 55 minutes of bliss.
When it comes to facials, Foxhills use everything Elemis, which personally, I love - when it comes to skincare Elemis rule the game. It might set you back a little bit of bob, but if you’re on a spa weekend I would definitely recommend a splurge. It was even a nice touch to see Elemis products in the changing facilities too.
After a day of enjoying our leisure activities, we quickly got ready and decided to hit the bar. Two gin and tonics later we were sat outside on the patio overlooking the green grounds and enjoying the views with the sunset in the background. It was perfect. And, after countless photos, it was not long before we were called to dinner.
The evening began with a glass of champagne - never one to complain, accompanied by an assortment of nuts and crackers. There are two dining spaces to choose from; the white table-clothed, fine dining restaurant and the more private dining room that with glass windows and doors that look out onto the grounds.

We started with a delicious soft shell crab with coriander, lime caviar, crab mayonnaise. This was followed by a feast of freshly landed local fish, I opted for the cod with black garlic, squid, and potato, which was not only beautifully presented but very memorable and tasty. It was also complemented with the best cauliflower and cheese I’ve had to date. Everything was great - especially the white wine, which I don’t usually enjoy but was recommended by the sommelier and was exceptionally good. To finish, I had dark chocolate and cherry ganache, which was a touch too rich for me, but still enjoyable.
The service made me feel somewhat of a Queen - nothing was too much and everything was taken care of to the detail. The staff were incredible and I was very impressed with the standard in which things were executed - even the small touches like welcome notes and treats in the bedroom made me feel special. The new General Manager, Tej Walia, who is leading a new ambitious £25m development project on the site was very accommodating and felt like an old friend.
Breakfast was yet another delicious affair; in the style of a buffet, with the choice to have the kitchen prepare also. The only downside was the Egg’s Benedict where the eggs were overdone and not runny. But the selection on offer from the buffet made that point fade away quite quickly due to endless pots of good coffee, alongside mouth-watering pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola and more. It was definitely time to hit the pool once last time… before reluctantly hopping on the train home.
