Wildlife artist and TV star Pip McGarry returns to the Frame Gallery in Odiham from October 2-18 with "The Big Five" a collection of gorgeous oil paintings inspired by the African bush
The award-winning Frame Gallery in Odiham is set to wander back into the wild next month, with an exhibition called "The Big Five" from famed wildlife artist Pip McGarry. These works are all for sale, including an entirely new piece of artwork, pictured above – The Snow King.
McGarry has led more than 25 safaris in countries throughout Africa, introduced celebrities to animals and illustration alike in the television series A Brush with the Wild, and has been the official Artist in Residence for Hampshire's Marwell Zoological Park for 15 years.
McGarry will be making a personal appearance at the gallery on October 3. His previous appearance there achieved six-figure sales – his second-most successful solo exhibition, and an incredible outcome for an intimate, rural venue like The Frame Gallery.
"The Frame Gallery is one of the few galleries I will be working with outside of Marwell", McGarry confirms. "I'm looking forward to showcasing my latest work, and hopefully beating last year's record." It seems an entirely possible goal, given that his gorgeous images of big cats and the other beasts of the veldt have been joined by a series of baby animals (by popular demand!).
Jan Baker is owner of the The Frame Gallery, which won "Art Retailer of the Year" at this year's National Art and Framing Awards. She said that an artist of McGarry's reputation would "draw people from across the country... interest in his paintings have really helped to put our lovely corner of Hampshire on the art-buying map."
The Big Five will be on display from Oct 2-18, with an appearance by McGarry on Oct 3
