Reggae stars and Brummie legends UB40 are headed to G Live on May 13, for a follow-up to last year's sell-out tour
UB40 formed in 1978, naming themselves after the unemployment benefit form, and proceeded to release Signing Off, arguably one of the greatest British reggae albums. Now they're kicking off the next leg of their Getting Over The Storm Tour by returning to the UK, straight from a show in Italy.
Unsurprisingly for a group that's had more than forty Top 40 hits in the UK alone, the tour's been a success, one that's deliberately avoiding 'arena' venues.
Brian Travers, founding member, thinks "it's better to play to 100,000 people across forty intimate venues across the whole of the country, rather than playing to the same number of people at six enormous domes in the same cities."
"It’s a much better experience for both the band and our fans, and we get to play in towns and cities we haven’t visited for many years."
