Sex, Cake, Celebrities... what more could you want?

Taking inspiration from the works of Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol, this exhibition combines pop art with the heady influence of digital fantasy art.

From sickly sweet and hyper-realistic through to raw sketches, this collection juxtaposes things as they are often presented with how they really are.

The exhibition is the brainchild of artist Melody Laker, who was born in Guildford in 1984 and still resides in the town centre. Endlessly creative and with formal training gained at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Melody has proved her creative dexterity with works in film, radio and graphic design, but painting and drawing has remained a constant throughout.

"This exhibition will both tempt and repulse you" says Melody. "Viewed individually, sugary treats jump from the canvas and beg to be eaten, music legends dazzle with the gloss and glamour of an album cover and erotic sketches call to mind lustful memories. But will you view them differently when you find that they are sandwiched between more sinister pieces like Monster, a piece which presents a familiar face from the media that we'd all rather forget?"

Now a professional writer, Melody enjoys the contrast and cathartic nature of painting and has held a number of exhibitions across the south. Her works cover a variety of mediums including acrylic, pencil and pen.
