If you enjoyed Kate Adie's Women of the War on BBC2 last week, don't miss an evening with her at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge tonight
Award-winning BBC journalist Kate Adie will explore the impact of the First World War on women’s lives as they entered the workforce in their thousands.
In 1914 the world changed forever. When the First World War broke out, and a generation of men went off to fight, women emerged from the shadows of their domestic lives. Becoming a visible force in public life, they began to take up essential roles - from transport to policing, munitions to sport, entertainment and even politics.
Adie, who became well known as the Chief News Correspondent for BBC News, will be asking what this seismic move towards equal rights achieved for us subsequent generations.
Adie is also a best selling author and presenter of “From Our Own Correspondent” on Radio 4.
An Evening with Kate Adie: Aug 21, 6pm; tickets: £10 for members, £13 for non-members (advance booking only) brooklandsmuseum.com
