Celebrate this year’s most anticipated book titles at Guildford Book Festival. This year there's another first-rate line-up of authors and speakers. Here's a taste of what’s in store...
Our highlights:
Sheila Hancock will be speaking about her first novel, Miss Carter’s War, which details the struggle of women’s rights to education.
In a similar vein, Christina Lamb will discuss co-authoring a book on teen activist Malala Yousafzai’s experiences.
Laura Bates, founder of the hugely popular Everyday Sexism Project, will talk about how #shoutingback has inspired a worldwide movement to give women a voice.
Biographer Penny Junor will be telling us about Prince Harry grew up, in her new book Prince Harry: Brother, Soldier, son, and for any long-suffering England cricket supporters, Kevin Pietersen has picked up the MacBook and will be talking about his new autobiography, KP.
If you’re struggling with the wait for Daniel Craig’s next appearance as James Bond, get your fill of 007 with Matthew Parker’s Goldeneye: Ian Fleming’s Jamaica.
Women writing about war is an important theme of this year’s Festival. Kate Adie examines the social turbulence and changes in attitude which helped transform the role of women in Britain in Fighting on the Home Front, while Esther Freud, Anna Hope and Adele Parks each give their own insights into how they have responded to the Great War in their novels.
And don’t forget to brush shoulders with household names like Have I Got News For You panelist Paul Merton, renowned political editor Andrew Marr and Victoria Hislop!
