CJ Daugherty, Farnham resident and internationally best-selling author of the Night School, will be joining other best-selling female authors to discuss the art of Writing Real Young Women at the Waterstones in Guildford on November 7
With such series as the Hunger Games, Twilight, and the Maze Runner enjoying tremendous popularity, it's no stretch to say that young adult novels are going through something of a golden age, attracting younger readers with their mature subject matter, and older readers with the touch of the fantastic that is so often lacking in "adult" stories.
Originally a journalist, CJ Daugherty only started writing novels in 2010 – but she's been churning out more than a book a year, and shows no signs of slowing, making her one of the consistently-acclaimed names in the field of young adult writing.
Her Night School series was an international bestseller, and became the first young adult book to receive a web series adaptation – a concept that has since been adopted by producers like Netflix. Indeed, given recent scandals, the story of intrigue at an elite boarding school seems just as prescient...
The series concluded earlier this year, but a new story with a supernatural twist – The Secret Fire – has already begun spilling from the Farnham author's pen.
This Saturday, on November 7, CJ Daugherty will be at the Waterstones in Guildford alongside Britain's other leading female young adult authors – Holly Bourne, Melinda Salisbury, and Alexia Casale – to discuss the art of Writing Real Young Women. This is a free event.
There will be time allocated for questions from the audience – and the authors will be signing their books afterward, so bring your copies along or buy one on the day! A signed book makes a great Christmas gift.
Look forward to seeing a full interview with CJ Daugherty in our Guildford Magazines
