Our local music expert Ian Codd offers his pick of the best classical music being performed across Dorking in August
The concert scene is fairly quiet during the month of August, as many people enjoy their summer holidays, but there are a few events to mention - I've got the best below!
Look forward to September, when the new concert season begins and there will be plenty of good music piping through the skies of the Surrey Downs. Among the highlights will be a visit by the Philharmonia Orchestra, playing Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven; Dorking Choral Society singing Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, one of the classics of the modern choral repertoire; and Brian Kay’s final appearance as conductor of the Leith Hill Musical Festival. It promises to be another excellent season!
