A 48-year-old man who avoided prison for two decades has been caught and sentenced to 15 years and a further five years on extended licence for five serious non-recent sexual offences in the Chertsey area of Runnymede.
Stuart Mortimer raped girls 11 and 13-years-old in the 1990's; a 13-year-old girl between 2004 and 2005 and a 28-year-old woman in 2003.
He also admitted sexual assault by touching of a 10-year-old girl in 2006.
Mortimer, who had failed to return on police bail in December 2013, was located as a result of a media and social media appeal.
"I want to thank the public for the response to that appeal because it was as a direct result of information received that Mortimer was found at an address in Virginia Wate" said Detective Inspector Paddy Mayers.
"Without this assistance he would have been at large for longer and potentially a further risk to the public.”
"This sentence reflects the severity of the offences committed by this dangerous paedophile who preyed on vulnerable young children and a young woman" added PC Kate Hyder of the Surrey Police Public Protection Investigation Unit.
"I hope it will, to some extent, help the victims begin to move on with their lives and feel that justice has been served.
"The victims are to be commended for their bravery in helping bring Mortimer to justice and it is thanks to their courage that the public and specifically young children will be protected from this insidious individual for some time. I am grateful that they placed their trust in Surrey Police and enabled my team to investigate the allegations.
"This should serve as a warning to those who do or have sexually abused individuals, including young children that Surrey Police take all such allegations seriously and will fully investigate whether in regard to a recent or non-recent allegation.”
