Detective Superintendent Nick May, Head of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said:
"This is a tragic incident where two people have lost their lives and our thoughts are with their family at this extremely difficult time.
"At this stage we believe that the offender or offenders entered the property at some time after midnight and subjected the victims to a sustained attack.
"The Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team have launched a murder investigation and a significant number of officers are making enquiries in relation to this crime.
"We are still in the very early stages of the investigation but we need to trace a man by the name of Viktoras Bruzas as a matter of urgency.
"I would urge members of the public not to approach him but to call 999 immediately if they know his whereabouts.
"We are deploying a significant amount of resources with officers from both Surrey and Sussex Police working on the enquiry but we urgently need to hear from any members of the public who may have seen Mr Bruzas or his vehicle.
"Fetcham is a small, close-knit community and this incident is likely to have a lasting impact on the village.
"Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the local area and scenes of crime officers are currently examining the property.
"We will have specialist and neighbourhood officers in the area working with residents while they come to terms with these tragic events. I ask that the privacy of those closely affected by this incident is respected at this time."
