Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa
Top pampering pick: Spa Dreaming – a marathon 3 hours of treatment starts off with a cleansing foot soak with lavender and grapefruit oil followed by a sugar and salt body scrub and Kaolin clay body wrap. To get you in the 'dreamlike' state your therapist will then perform a tension releasing scalp massage with a rosemary and citrus conditioning hair treatment before waking your body up with a rhythmic full body massage and reviving facial.
The Pennyhill Park Hotel is a properly swanky leisure retreat with a spa, tennis court, cinema, 9-hole golf course and even its own bakery. The quality of this spa is echoed in the hotel's five-star rating with some incredible facilities; there are eight indoor and outdoor swimming pools complete with underwater music (now how's that for hedonism!)
If budget isn't a factor then you'd be hard pressed to find a more luxurious setting for a special getaway, definitely a good one to keep in mind for an anniversary. Here's a link to the hotel brochure so you can leave it about the house as a subtle 'hint' to your other half.
Strictly for adults, this is a great option for those looking to have a child-free pampering experience. The treatments are a little bit on the costlier side but that's more than made up for by the incredible 5-star facilities, not to mention that the setting in a grand Surrey country house will have you feeling like a member of the gentry in no time, "cucumber sandwich ma'am?"
The spa specialises in holistic therapies like Reflexology and Reiki as well as longer (2 hour+) treatments. Another plus is the half a dozen fully licensed bars and restaurants – a massage is good, a massage with champagne is better!

Cliveden House Spa
Top pampering pick: Cliveden Bespoke Floatation – whilst floating atop a warm water mattress (how cool is that!?), highly-trained therapists perform an array of different treatments and therapies that are custom tailored to your own personal needs with an aim to, "cover your full mental and physical wellbeing, release any tension, restore emotional energy, revitalise your senses and improve skin health, tone and texture."
This spa is a state of the art addition to the historic Cliveden House Hotel. Set within 375 acres of gardens and woodlands, the Grade I listed National Trust building has seen its fair share of power, politics and parties over its 350-year history. In fact, the walled garden within which the spa is located contains the very same swimming pool (pictured above) and listed itself – that John Profumo approached one night and first beheld a skinny dipping 19-year-old model called Christine Keeler. The ensuing affair between the two would become the largest political scandal since the Suez Crisis.
Spa-goers nowadays can, fortunately – or not depending on your inclination – expect slightly less fuss and furore, as the garden has been transformed into an oasis of calm and tranquillity, ringed with fresh lavender and roses that naturally perfume the air. The facilities are as cutting edge as you'd expect from Cliveden with, *deep breath* a high tech gym, indoor heated pool, infrared sauna, aromatherapy steam room, indoor Jacuzzi, outdoor hot tubs, seven treatment rooms, a manicure, pedicure and hairdressing studio, and even a restaurant *and exhale*. Oh, and there's also onsite indoor and outdoor tennis courts of course.
Along with an array of bespoke treatments, the Cliveden spa specializes in skin care, having secured the services of global beauty influencer Sarah Chapman and her award-winning Skinesis® treatments. Specialist staff also offer OSKIA facial treatments which incorporate the techniques of acupressure, specialist massage, reflex and lymph drainage, gentle enzyme and AHA peeling.

Spa London
Top pampering pick: La Sultane de Saba Malaysian Bamboo Massage – ok, firstly the name is absolutely amazing and secondly, the history behind this pampering bad boy makes it a really unique experience. This 90-minute face and deep body massage use a technique passed down through generations of Lotud Dusuns, a tribe from Sabah. How awesome is that?
Whilst Spa London's huge array of quality treatments are certainly excellent, it is the outstanding 'Thermal Spa' facilities set within a historically converted bathhouse in Wimbledon's leisure centre that really makes it stand out from the crowd.
Pampering punters can choose from an array of different hot and cold treatment rooms including some therapies with a history dating back to Roman times. Start off in a lightly heated seating area called a Hammam before venturing into Turkish Baths of varying degrees of heat – the Tepidarium (warm room), Caldarium (hot room) and Laconium (hottest room). I bet you didn't think you were going to learn some Latin when you clicked on this spa round up?!
For those looking for more modern treatments, the spa also boasts an aroma steam room, Monsoon shower, ice fountain and a hydrotherapy pool.
The individual treatments on offer are of a similarly eclectic mix with some really interesting Hammam signature cleansing experiences and a wide variety of specialist skin treatments for all ages and genders. The teen and mom-to-be regimes are both well worth checking out as well.
