I know what it's like, sometimes on a Saturday evening it's hard to fight the urge to order in Chinese, especially if you're trying to maintain some serious health goals. Beijing Chinese Restaurant, Guildford
You won’t go hungry at this restaurant as there’s an “eat as much as you like” buffet Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 2.30pm and all day on Sunday serving all manner of Chinese food including prawn, chicken, beef, soup, rice and noodle dishes. In the evenings, the menu offers traditional Chinese dishes as well as Malaysian charcoal-grilled specialities and chow mein courses.

Chu Chin Chow restaurant, Hampton
Well known in the Hampton Court area, this family-run restaurant serves authentic food from the provinces of Canton, Beijing and Szechuan. In addition to the standard menu, there’s a choice of set menus. For example, for two people the menu includes chicken mushroom soup, crispy duck, prawn with black bean sauce, shredded crispy chilli beef, chicken with mushrooms, mixed vegetables and egg fried rice. There are additional lunch and Sunday menus.

Full Moon Chinese Restaurant
Apart from the Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine, this restaurant has gained a reputation for its tribute acts on a Friday night – everything from Abba to Tom Jones. Coming up is Elvis on Friday 3 March. A range of chef’s special main courses is available such as Stir-Fried Asparagus and Prawns with a sauce named “X.O” – made of scallops, fish and shrimp, and cooked with chilli peppers, onions, and garlic. Other dishes include Stir-Fried Sweet Chilli Prawns and Roast Duck with Plum Sauce.

Naturally Chinese Restaurant
Accredited by Coeliac UK, this restaurant has a gluten free menu with a huge choice of dishes. For example, salmon dumplings, bean curd pastry spring rolls, chicken in lemon sauce as well as clay pot specials. In the standard menu, you’ll find classic Chinese fare, as well as rotisserie meats, served on platters and a variety of soups.

New Regent Chinese restaurant
An elegant, smart restaurant with impressive tropical fish tanks. The restaurant will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a live lion dance performance on Friday 3 February 8.30pm. My favourite dishes include satay chicken, Aromatic Crispy Duck with cucumbers, pancakes and hoisin sauce. A wide range of vegetarian, fish and seafood dishes is available. House specialities include “sizzling” dishes such as Sizzling Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onion or Sizzling Special Fillet in Special Barbecue sauce. Various set menus including Chinese New Year available.

Beijing Chinese Restaurant, Horsell
This restaurant will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a Chinese lion dance on Sunday 5 February at 2 pm accompanied by a special menu. This will include ‘Lao-Sheng’ Rainbow Combo Fish Platter, Beef Fillet with Celery in Birds Nest and Stir Fried Chinese Mushrooms Pak-Choi. An “eat as much as you like” buffet is available as well as an a la carte menu.

Pearl of China
Specialising in traditional Cantonese cuisine, the Pearl of China serves a range of starters such as Crispy Seaweed with Grated Scallop and Grilled Jumbo Prawns in Honey Sauce, followed by a variety of main courses including whole lobster, chicken with cashew nuts in lemon bean sauce, as well as “sizzling” dishes in various sauces. If you’re vegetarian, this is the place for you as there’s an array of meat-free dishes such as Vegetarian Crispy Duck, Aubergine with Black Bean Sauce and Beancurds with Oyster Sauce. “The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Comfortable and warm atmosphere, very friendly staff,” says Trip Advisor.

The Good Earth
Well-established upmarket restaurant offering traditional Chinese cuisine and clay pot specials, as well as an array of seafood and innovative recipes. These include Tangerine Kaarage Chinese with fine flakes of sweet potato and mango puree; Golden Sands Dover Sole with desiccated coconut and curry leaves and Sauteed Fillet of Monkfish with shallots and rice relish. Hardens Food Guide says “A definite cut above – they deserve to be as busy as they always are.

Tiang Chinese Restaurant
Located on the outskirts of Woking, it serves a variety of Chinese cuisines. There’s a special menu for Chinese New Year with a variety of dishes including Crispy Won Ton, Spare Ribs in Mandarin Sauce, Crispy Aromatic Duck, Salmon in Szechuan Sauce and Sizzling Beef in Black Pepper Sauce. An “eat as much as you like” buffet is available as well as an a la carte menu. “Excellent food and exceptional service,” says Trip Advisor.
