Dastaan
447 Kingston Rd, Epsom KT19 0DB | Website
This top-ranked restaurant is owned by Sanjay Gour and Nand Kishor, two former chefs of Mayfair's famous Gymkhana Indian restaurant, who have each won Michelin stars before. All the food is British, except the spices, which come together in a devilishly smooth combination. The menus also cater for vegetarians, vegans and lactose and gluten-intolerant people. Dastaan's is exceptionally well priced, and some restaurants with a similar calibre of chefs can see customers paying a small fortune. Mr Gour, however, says you can get two courses and a drink for £30.

Incorporating the fine dining of rich meats such as ostrich and pigeon into the flavours of Indian dishes has proved a daring yet revered invention.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - “Honestly, the most gorgeous curries and Indian food we've ever had. Not bog-standard British versions of curries we've all eaten so many times over the years, but intricate, thoughtful flavours, an absolute treat for the senses, so very delicious, with lots of lovely complimentary touches like the palette cleanser that came pre-dessert.”
