Leatherhead restaurant Five Rivers has set up a ‘Lunch for a Lunch’ scheme to support The Pitstop, a charity that provides hot lunches to homeless, vulnerable and isolated people in the area
Five Rivers, a specialist in North Indian cuisine, will donate two pounds for every lunch bought – the equivalent of two meals at the charity’s day centre run from Christ Church (URC) hall.
And the initiative has a second aim. The Pitstop lost its premises in the floods of 2013 and is currently attempting to raise funds to acquire, refit and refurbish a new permanent base in the town.
“We are thrilled to have the support of Five Rivers,” says Chair of Trustees Richard Langtry. “Since losing our premises, we have been working hard to keep our clients safe, warm and well-fed while we raise the money for somewhere new. Things are now looking hopeful and this scheme will give our appeal a welcome boost.”
