Cellar Magneval opens in Woking
Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this year, so why not head over to Cellar Magneval, Woking’s new wine bar and caveau par excellence?
It’s an intimate, atmospheric place, with wooden floors, exposed brickwork walls, candles on the tables and upcycled furniture. As well as the superlative wine selection, there are lots of aperitif dishes to choose from, such as flavoured popcorn, olives, cured meats, handmade chocolates and (naturally) a healthy cheese board.
This lovely bar is run by the chef sommelier, Thierry de Magneval, and his wife Jo. Thierry has worked alongside many names of note from London’s bubbling culinary scene, including Michel Roux Jr (Le Gavroche and Roux at Parliament Square) and, most recently, Pierre Koffmann at The Berkeley Hotel.
Cellar Magneval also has a takeaway service (the term caveau means ‘wine shop’), so do make the most of Thierry’s extensive knowledge the next time you are in Woking in search of wine.
Cellar Magneval, 3 Church Path, Woking; cellarmagneval.com. Open Wednesdays to Saturdays, 11am – 11pm
